Russian Tiles
Project type
Ceramic
Date
Sep 2021
Four different interpretations of the same imagery through texture, additive and subtractive methods. A man sits on a stool, he wears a fur coat as well as mittens, and one shoe, the other on the floor. He’s drinking tea and warming his foot in the open fire. The stove is nearby with a tea kettle on top, meat hangs in the background. Inspired by Russian culture, and the cold weather and attire, as well as the common foods.
4.5 inches by 4.5 inches each. Made in 2021. Functional, made from low fire earthenware clay, unglazed. Handbuilt with a textured pattern and carving.
This is my first ever ceramic project that began my career in ceramics! Made back in September of 2021! They were also a part of my first art exhibit! QCC's 2022 Juried Student Exhibition which took place in the QCC Art Gallery! Not for sale!
