Monoprint/Sgraffito Bottles

These bottles were made during an exploration of ceramic surface decoration with combining printmaking and ceramics. The bottles were composed of darted slabs and coils. My unique illustrations were handprinted onto newsprint and then transferred onto the vessels as a mono-print. I finished the design by doing the sgraffito technique to create visible line work through carved texture that separates the color. In one of the vessels, I depict a colorful rooster icon. The rooster is inspired by a contemporary sculpture I admire, installed on a farm
I frequently visits. The vibrant colors and dynamic form of the rooster capture the energy and spirit of the farm, blending my love for both the natural world and contemporary art.
